To be transparent: you will not make much money your first 3-6 months (unless you have a lot of groups or travel lined up already!). Most people book vacations at least 6 months in advance.
That being said... the math generally works out to for every $100k in travel bookings, you will make ~$7,000 in net commissions! If you are doing only WDW travel, then it will be lower (like ~$6k) vs a lot of cruises in can be higher (like ~$8k).
You probably have 3 circles already:
That's a great place to start getting your feet wet and learning the ropes! #3 will take the most work to build, but if you can create a sweet brand you will be able to get referrals and more. But start with #1 and #2 first because they will be the more-forgiving bunch in case something goes awry (unless it's your Mother-in-Law).
Deel is the vendor we use for onboarding new Travel Advisors. This ensures we always have the latest information up to date for taxes, mailing address etc. If you want to create an LLC and receive your commissions through an LLC instead of you personally - you can easily update all of this information on Deel.
It's not an if... it's a when. The most important thing to remember is BE PROACTIVE. Talk to your Guests often and you can catch things before they go bad. If we have to reduce our commissions to help someone - then we should take the hit to keep that relationship solid.
Email us at advisor-success@famvia.com and we'll see how we can best help you or give advice. Just need to vent? We can do that too.
Dealing with people is hard (but rewarding!) work.
If you are pitching clients who live in Florida then yes, you will need to be added to our Seller of Travel license. Please contact advisor-success@famvia.com for the process and to double check whether you truly need to pay the annual license fee or not (it's $50 for the state of Florida).
Uh benefits? Yeah we can do that.... just head to the Travel Partners page and we have listed out all of the benefits you get from each partner. Just remember, you do have complete the trainings before getting access to preferred or Travel Advisor/Agent rates.
Setting up your branding is an important step! Some rules to keep in mind when thinking of a name:
Absolutely! You should go explore and find your favorite destinations. Travel Advisors retain 80% of GROSS Commissions (not net in this case). Since TAs are able to earn commission, there is no Rewards Pass or Travel Rewards earnings on top of the gross commission.
While we do not have an annual booking requirement (many host agencies requires hundreds of thousands of dollars annually)... please do keep in mind that we invest into YOU every year by paying up front most fees that other agencies would charge for up front.
We are happy to do it and we find it gives our Advisors confidence to go out and do big things.
